Amazon Tree Boa
Pattern Growth & Development

A photographic example of pattern development from birth through 2 years on one particular animal. This period, birth through 2 years, is when the colors and patterns will change the most. Sometimes patternless babies will remain patternless or lightly flecked through adulthood, but more often than not they will develop some mild to extensive amounts of patterning. The shapes, types, and combinations of pattern can vary greatly, but that's a whole other photo chart.

Although this shows just one individual snake, this is a prime example of typical pattern development over the first 24 months

This is a newborn yellow, almost completely patternless except for some random flecking.

This is that same snake about 3 months later.

Again at about 9-10 months of age.

Approximately 14-16 months old.

And just prior to turning 2 years old. Quite a change!
